Olivia Wilde may have run into an unforeseen double-up on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet when she showed up in the exact same dress as Vogue China editor, Margaret Zhang, but the actress did not have any competition when it came to the evening’s after party.
On the red carpet, the director opted for a high-neck Gabriela Hearst dress that paid homage to a vintage 1983 Chloé dress designed by the night’s honoree, Karl Lagerfeld. Later in the evening, though, she swapped out the gown for a more risqué look.
Making her way to a star-studded bash in New York City’s Noho neighbourhood, Wilde was photographed in a show-stopping dress from Chloé’s Spring 2023 ready-to-wear collection—originally modelled by Gigi Hadid. Styled by her go-to celebrity stylist Karla Welch, the metallic crochet slip dress was a statement in itself, but the actress left little to the imagination by wearing nothing but black Brazilian-cut briefs underneath.

And as it turned out, underwear was a bit of a trend amongst party-goers, with Kendall Jenner also rocking the bare-all look in custom Nensi Dojaka.
Emily Ratajkowski was also spotted wearing a look that revealed her underwear in custom Dilara Findikogl.

While the red carpet may have implored guests to show up in show-stopping couture, the after-parties call for celebrities to let their proverbial hair down in bare-all outfits.
Performer Janelle Monae was one standout, honouring Lagerfeld in a tweed and pearl bikini with a quilted white cat purse, reminiscent of the late designer’s cat, Choupette.
