Around this time of the year two things happen. First, the heat and humidity reach new heights and the thought of committing to a multi-layered face of make-up sounds about as appealing as sleeping in a Fendi fur. Secondly, you find that you’re struggling to stretch as far as you did in July, courtesy of a swelling summer social calendar and a new-found Frozé habit.

The solution? Multi-purpose beauty products, which are as efficient as they are economical and the lowey winner of this category has to be the tinted lip balm. Pro’s keep them in their kits when they want to make the model’s radiant, dewy and effortless. (I once watched a pro skip past her collection of luxe cream blushers and instead swipe JELLY BELLY Lip Balm Tutti-Fruitti on the model’s cheeks. I immediately went out and bought the $4 balm. True story)

As space-saving as they are money-saving, tinted balms offer foolproof, buildable colour, while the cheek-to-lip coordination is always flattering. Rosie Huntington-Whitely agrees. “Whatever blush colour I put on the apple of my cheek I put a little bit on my brow bone,” the model aid in a recent video on make-up artist, Lisa Eldridge’s YouTube channel. ”If you’ve got blue eyes I always think it pops them a little but as well so that’s a good trick.” Below, our favourite budget-friendly balms to get you through the rest of summer, sizzling.
