Despite niche TikTok-driven aesthetics becoming a little tiresome, 2024’s first viral trend, the “Office Siren”, has already gained a foothold in fashion’s anthology. For those not chronically online, the visual code recontextualises corporate staples from the late 90s and early 2000s through a vamped-up and seductive lens.

As the name suggests, the hallmarks of this style—read: woollen mini dresses tailored to your proportions, rectangle frame reading glasses and ultra-fine knitted sets that glimpse a slice of skin—aren’t suitable for your CBD high rises. In fact, we’d go so far as to say that wearing these silhouettes into your workplace would violate the business dress code. But, as soon as 5 PM hits, these pieces are perfect for taking you from the boardroom to the bar. (The only accessory needed? An after work drink dirty martini.)

Given these sartorial standards are rooted in elevating the workroom, we never expected the fad to crossover into the realm of celebrity-style dressing. But who better than to moonlight as a 9-5 employee than Hollywood’s leading ladies taking to Paris Fashion Week? At Dior’s commencing presentation, it was Natalie Portman’s Gisele Bündchen in The Devil Wears Prada skirt suit that proved this trope means business.

Perhaps dipping into her body of work by taking notes from Jackie Kennedy’s penchant for tailored sets, Portman’s clerical chic ensemble featured a cinched Bar-style jacket crafted from marled grey wool, an A-line mini skirt comprised of the same fabric and a black turtleneck. The look felt a little modish with her hair styled 60s side-swept updo and the aesthetic’s signature crimson lip adding a touch of modernity to her beauty look.

As the face of Miss Dior, Portman also referenced the botanical notes of the feminine fragrance with her accessory: a floral jacquard purse held by the wrist strap. Natalie: The Professional indeed.
