It’s hard to imagine a time when a celebration wasn’t marked with an appearance from one of Bec + Bridge’s silky slips. Since the beloved Australian brand’s inception in 2004, the high street mainstay has been synonymous with elevated formalwear, with their delicate (and often sensual) bridal-adjacent dresses deservingly offered in dedicated wedding edits since 2018.

Though she might not actually be Australian—despite our willingness to claim her as one—Naomi Watts paid homage to her time down under by selecting Bec + Bridge for her bridesmaids at her Mexico City nuptials. The actress, who was raised in Sydney during her adolescence, recently hosted a second wedding ceremony following her intimate civil marriage to fellow actor Billy Crudup.

Watts and Crudup first wed at a New York City courthouse, choosing a floor-length floral lace wedding dress from Oscar De La Renta to exchange “I dos”. The star shared the news to social media with a simple and heartwarming caption, “Hitched! 🕊️🪢♥️”.

Over a year later, Watts adorned a breathtaking Dior Haute Couture gown designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for her destination ceremony.

While in white embroidered tulle accented with iridescent pearls, Watts was accompanied at the altar by her teenage daughter, Kai Schreiber, and niece, Ruby. Both bridesmaids wore matching dresses, specifically a rose gold strapless maxi dress. The ankle-grazing silhouette features dainty draping, with ruching at the waist to create a cinched effect, a side split and a maxi skirt cut on the bias.

In a video posted by Watts’ brother, a photographer named Ben, the newlywed and her bridal party can be seen sweetly showcasing their contemporary bridal looks. Take a look (and note, for any upcoming brides reading this!) below:

Watts’ dual services might be proof that the double wedding trend is on the rise again, but there’s also something to be said about Watts’ meaningful yet subtle homage to her upbringing. Perhaps the bridal requirements should be, ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and something homegrown, too’.

Of course, Watts’ co-sign on Bec + Bridge being the ultimate elevated formalwear destination follows a legion of A-listers who have already given the label their tick of approval. In 2021, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Jesse Jo Stark wore matching seafoam strapless Bec + Bridge bridesmaid dresses to the wedding of their mutual friend, Lauren Perez. Miley Cyrus and her sisters also wore the Australian brand to their mother Tish Cyrus’ wedding to Australian actor Dominic Purcell. Grown on home soil, but Hollywood approved, indeed.
