It’s time to unleash your inner Twiggy because Mulberry’s new Spring Summer 2019 collection channels everything that was fabulous about the Swinging 1960s in England.

The quintessentially Brit brand’s newest collection, unveiled during Paris Fashion Week as a series of styled lookbook images rather than runway show (see below), is an upbeat take on the positivity and energetic spirit of that powerful era in global fashion.

Creative director Johnny Coca was born in Spain but has made a point of paying tribute to Mulberry’s heritage in his designs since he joined the brand in 2015.

“The idea of Britishness is composed of so many different elements,” Coca says. “Over the past seasons, we’ve been exploring the rebellious, the posh and the aristocratic alongside glamorous and romantic feminine figures.”

“For this new season I was looking at a defining moment in British culture – the Swinging Sixties and its hedonistic and iconic imagery. I wanted something fun, dynamic, light-hearted, candid, graphic and pop.

“It’s a collection that revisits the spirit of the sixties with the attitude of today.”

What that means for you fashion-lovers is cute checked A-line mini dresses, crochet hats and dresses in metallic lurex, graphic quatrefoil daisy prints, sheer flared capri pants in disco colours, colour-blocked accessories – the pink heeled pumps with gold metal ball detailing are standouts – and Perspex-heeled ankle boots.

Looks like our summer just that little bit more radical. Peace out.
