Mugler X H&M

If you didn’t already peep the leaked news, consider this your official PSA that Mugler is teaming up with H&M to bring us all the cutting-edge looks we never thought we’d actually get our hands on.

An ode to curves and lines of the body, each piece possessed the ineffable Mugler appeal. Consisting of sheer details, reworked denim and sharp tailoring, and the usual suspects of sensual bodysuits and cut-outs, the collaboration will not skimp on the brand’s extravagance. Having broken ground just before the house’s founder, Manfred Thierry Mugler, passed away in January 2022, the project was given an especially significant purpose in realising and honouring his vision.

Mugler X H&M

The house of Mugler has always been an inextinguishable force, perfectly fusing its origins and retro inspiration with a modern sensibility. Always championing expression, risk-taking and rampant individuality with a great deal of high glamour, the house’s irreverent founder, Manfred, was always ahead of the game.

In his earliest days, the French designer worked with silhouettes and themes that preempted future movements of body positivity and gender fluidity that have dominated fashion in recent years. And now, with Casey Cadwallader taking on his fifth year at the helm of this brand, rejuvenating its legacy and designing signatures for a new generation, the house is experiencing a golden era.

Coming together with H&M, the global powerhouse, makes sense. With a core mission to democratise fashion, opening it up to the masses, and Mugler’s passion for inclusivity and fashion for everyone, the collaboration welcomes all to the party.

“It is truly an honour to collaborate with H&M,” said Cadwallader about the endeavour. “The collection is a celebration of everything that defines Mugler as a house, and each piece is authentic Mugler, from the bodysuits which have become a signature of ours to the shop tailoring and worked denim. It is a showcase of our icons.”

Ann-Sofia Johansson, creative advisor of H&M shared her excitement, too.

“We are proud to celebrate the legacy of Manfred Thierry Mugler with this collection,” she said. “We were all honoured to get to know Manfred, and it feels very special that he was involved at the initial stages together with Casey and the house. Casey has done such an incredible job at paying homage to history and the archive while making the collection totally contemporary. Under him, Mugler has become one of the most innovative and exciting houses in today’s fashion landscape.”
