Outdoor festival dressing has become somewhat of a fashion art form – there’s a fine line between looking die-hard, free spirited and try-hard. Australian model Taylah Roberts is the poster girl for walking that thin edge.
“When your job is to be done up all the time the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable especially when you’re at festival for the entire day,” says the 22-year-old, who was famously disqualified from Australia’s Next Top Model in 2013 after a run-in with another contestant, but gone on to a successful career regardless.
Roberts hit Splendour last month with edgy apparel distributor International Fashion Group, which enlisted photographer Nick Tsindos to snap her in a buffet of festival-perfect designer looks in labels like IRO, Johnny Was, Paige and AG Denim.

“Generally, I like things that are easy and practical – dresses that you can just throw on or jumpsuits-slash-overalls that are cute but still comfortable,” Roberts told GRAZIA. “My festival style isn’t all that different to my style normally, maybe just with a bit more colour – and glitter.”
Her favourite look of the weekend? “It would have to be the long-sleeve little IRO dress,” she says. “It’s just fun and you don’t really have to think about what you’re going to wear with it. It’s adaptable and you could even throw on a pair a jeans or stockings when it gets a little colder at night.”
