British ‘slashie’ it-girl, Chelsea Leyland is a woman of many talents. Now the model, actor, fashion commentator and DJ can now add athleisure designer and health campaigner to her expanding list of achievements as well.

New York-based Leyland, who says yoga is the reason she can juggle her fast-paced life with the fact she suffers epilepsy, has just designed a limited edition workout bodysuit that raises money and awareness for the Epilepsy Society.

Created with the help of NY-based boutique Fivestory and sold exclusively online at Farfetch, the luxe onesie not only taps into a new trend in nineties-style workout wear (bodysuits are the perfect starting point for luxe layering) but also makes it even easier for us to feel smug about heading to yoga, Pilates or Barre Body in a bang-on outfit.

“This is the first major project I’ve done in support of Epilepsy Society and I am thrilled to have the support of Farfetch to really amplify this,” said the model, who wears said unitard as she straddles her vast personal record collection in the pic above. “I am now using something I have struggled with throughout my life to empower not only myself, but also hopefully others who have their own struggles with this condition.”

The one-of-a-kind dark navy onesie with gunmetal grey piping definitely sits at the ‘luxury’ end of the gym gear spectrum given its $522 price tag, but for good reason. Leyland called upon her friend, artist Zoe Buckman, to hand embroider a message of empowerment – For nowadays the world is lit by lightening” –  in silk thread on the back of each piece. (Sage words for Rihanna’s next tattoo, perhaps?)

Nervous about baring all in a bodysuit? Don’t be. This season’s huge ‘gaping arm-hole’ trend is an ideal partner for the all-in-one. Knot it at your waist, or let it hang long. Short shorts over the top? Unless you’re a professional ballerina, that’s a solid no-go.
