Megan Fox is opening up about a tragic experience she suffered in her new book. With the release of Pretty Boys are Poisonous, a collection of poems that explores some of her toxic relationships, the actress addressed a particular poem that alluded to baby loss.

Speaking to Good Morning America about it, Fox confirmed that it was inspired by the baby loss she went through with her fiancé, Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker).

“I’d never been through anything like that in my life,” she said. “I have three kids, so it was very difficult for both of us, and it sent us on a very wild journey together and separately.”

In the book, Fox writes about an ultrasound of a baby girl at ten weeks old.

“I want to hold your hand / hear your laugh,” it reads, along with “but now / I have to say / goodbye.”

She describes holding the baby “as they rip you from my insides,” as well as her despair.

“I will pay any price,” she writes. “Tell me please / what is the ransom / for her soul?”

Last May, Machine Gun Kelly dedicated his Billboard Music Awards performance to Fox and sparked conversations when he added that it was also for their “unborn child.” Though some interpreted the news as a pregnancy reveal, the couple clarified that that wasn’t true.

Baker is father to a daughter, Cassie, 24, from his relationship with Emma Cannon. Fox is a mother to three sons: Noah Shannon Green, 10, Bodhi Ransom Green, 9, and Journey River Green, 6, from her marriage to actor Brian Austin Green. The couple were together for ten years before splitting in 2020.

Her book was released on November 7th, 2023, and according to her blurb, offers a sense of “freedom” from her past, and, hopefully, inspires others to “take back their happiness and their identity.”
