If you witnessed Megan Fox in her most recent red carpet looks – the naked dress at the VMAs and that Peter Dundas dress at the Met Gala – it is easy to assume the actress does not have a care in the world when it comes to her appearance. But apparently, that’s not quite true. In an interview with Machine Gun Kelly for British GQ, Fox has revealed she suffers from very serious insecurities.

“Yeah, I have body dysmorphia. I have a lot of deep insecurities,” Fox told the publication.

“We may look at somebody and think, ‘That person’s so beautiful. Their life must be so easy.’ They most likely don’t feel that way about themselves,” she added.

For those unacquainted, body dysmorphia is a body-image disorder where sufferers think about their flaws for extended periods of time. According to Anxiety & Depression Association of America, “They can’t control their negative thoughts and don’t believe people who tell them that they look fine. Their thoughts may cause severe emotional distress and interfere with their daily functioning.”

The 35-year-old has discussed her mental health struggles in the past. In an interview with Entertainment Tonightthe Transformers star revealed she had nearly reached “breaking point” after the release of Jennifer’s Body. It sparked the realisation that her body was continually sexualised in films and in media.

“It wasn’t just that movie, it was every day of my life, all the time, with every project I worked on and every producer I worked with,” Fox said at the time.

The couple also discussed their relationship to GQ with Kelly speaking the truth, but rather poetically.

“It should be light, but also we go to hell with each other,” MGK said of their relationship. “It’s ecstasy and agony for sure… I don’t want people to think anything’s perfect with us. I didn’t say it was the darkest fairy tale for no reason.”

Ah, ok MGK…
