Day Four of MBFWA began with a bang. A very, very beautiful bang by way of Lee Mathews, who celebrated 20 years with a sublime show of utilitarian tailoring, painterly strokes and ruffles. Karla Spetic followed with dolly pinks and glassy organza for a magic moment of sheer delight, while Thurley’s colour palette was stellar; vivid violet, soft salmon and mint, with detailing so intricate it needed to be seen to be believed. Designer Leo & Lin drew inspiration from his Chinese heritage with beautiful Eastern prints, while over at the Chinese Garden Of Friendship, Double Rainbouu hosted a spectacular presentation with models scattered around the serene gardens in terry-towelling, zebra print and hypercolour.

All in all, a very colourful day in Australian fashion. Here are team GRAZIA’s top picks.

White frilled shirt dress at Lee Mathews
“It seems that Lee Mathews designed her 20th anniversary collection just for me, because I want it all. If I have to choose just one piece, however, it would have be the white frilly-utility shirt dress. I love a fashion oxymoron as much as I love Lee Mathews.”

“These towel robes would serve as my beach essential all summer long.”

The oversized White shirt at Lee Mathews
“Difficult to pick just one piece from Lee Mathews’ heavenly collection, but for starters I’ll have this crisp white utilitarian shirt. Thanks.”

Quilted Overall Dress at Lee Mathews
“The craftsmanship of Lee Mathews’ Resort 2020 collection was something to be marvelled. Case in point: Her innovative take on quilting, typically something we’d see in a winter collection. But I want to take this to the office and on my next vacation.”

Sheer Overcoat and wrap bikini at Karla Špetić
“I love the transparency of this organza overcoat and the high-cut, wrap-style bikini. I can’t wait to style this!”
