The most titillating part of my job at the moment is waking up to see what Margot Robbie is wearing on yet another day of the Barbie press tour. We’ve had Versace moments! Chanel! Vivienne Westwood! Schiaparelli! But at the film’s European premiere on July 12 at the London Eye, the Australian Oscar-nominated actress wore our favourite to date: a red mini.
Indeed as dreamy as Barbie’s waterslide from her bedroom to her pool, Robbie’s stylist Andrew Mukamal dressed his 33-year-old star client in Turkish-British designer Dilara Findikoglu. A Central Saint Martins graduate with an eye for fantastical gothic romance, Findikoglu’s Bubble Cut corseted number is cut from silky duchess satin—and combined with Robbie’s up-do on the eveening, she really did give a nod to the Duchess Of Bay Ridge, a la Naomi Lapaglia, the character the actress played in the 2013 film The Wolf Of Wall Street.
The dress—which has a fully constructed upper body with detailed panelling, and lacing to secure at the back—is actually now available to pre-order, with delivery guaranteed by the end of September.
