legallyblondegraziaUS president-elect Donald Trump’s rhetoric and personal track record regarding women has appalled millions in his own country and around the world. So as America’s most anti-female leader in decades comes to power, there’s never been a better time to resurrect Elle Woods.

That’s what Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon thinks. Speaking to E News! this week, the actress alluded to the need for strong female political characters in film – now more than ever.

“I need somebody really clever to come up with a great idea and we’ll do it,” the 40-year-old, who portrayed the bubbly lawyer in the original film and the sequel, said.

“I do think it’s a good time to do it,” she continued. “I think women need that kind of positivity right now.”

The second Legally Blonde film ended with Elle hinting she was headed for a career in the White House, and there’s no doubt Washington D.C could use her smarts and sunshine – not to mention someone interested in protecting women’s rights – right now.

Add to that the first film celebrated its 15-year anniversary last year, and we think it’s high time Elle Woods is put back on the big screen. If the lead star is willing and available, what else could the film company possibly need? Stay tuned.
