Today we couldn’t imagine our streaming world without the tag-line “express from the U.S.”. But over a decade ago when films released in the United States, they would take almost nearly three months to release in Australia. Such was the case for the Robert Luketic directed film Legally Blonde which was released on this day 15 years ago in the United States. And while the movie didn’t hit cinema screens in Australia until October 11 2006, we figured why not join in the sparkly pink online odes to Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods: Harvard graduate. Chihuahua-toting sorority student. Lover of pink-on-pink-on-pink. Great French manicure.

To celebrate the anniversary, Witherspoon herself has been posting a few throwbacks to one of her many memorable roles. And in between encouraging young women to “live every day like Elle Woods after Warner said she wasn’t smart enough for law school” (because the film was “more about female empowerment than it was about the girl getting the guy”, says Witherspoon), the actress has linked up with Instagram to give a tutorial on how to perfect your bend-and-snap.  “This is still the most asked request I get from people,” says Witherspoon. “I have a feeling I will be doing the bend and snap until I’m 95.”
