While it’s hardly unusual for A-list actresses to wear borrowed jewellery pieces so pricey they should come with a free bodyguard, only the rarest of celebrity gems gets a priceless piece made just for them.
Cue: Golden Globe 2019 winner Lady Gaga, who took home a prized statue today for Best Original Song she co-wrote with Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt. She might been pipped to the Best Actress post by Glenn Close, but there’s no question A Star Is Born breakout Gaga won fashion critics’ hearts with her incredible lavender blue Valentino gown.
If she the fact she was wearing a clutch of incredible diamond bling worth millions, you’d never have known it. New York-based luxury label Tiffany & Co. created a custom piece especially for the performer boasting a mind-blowingly enormous 20-carat pear-shaped rock amongst it 300 brilliant diamonds.
Named Aurora after the goddess of the dawn and featuring a spattering of stars, the necklace was a nod to Gaga’s nominated film.
While the piece wasn’t the only Tiffany & Co. all-diamond bling she donned (there were simple cluster earrings, and three layered-on cluster bracelets all ranging in price from $45,000 to $145,000), it was the clear standout. Not surprisingly, all of the pieces are now available for purchase if you have the funds.
Of course, she did wear one more piece of stand-out jewellery: her engagement ring from her celebrity agent fiance Christian Carino, who sat next to her proudly throughout the entire ceremony.
How exactly would the hero necklace set you back? Tiffany won’t say, but if you consider the *tiny* matching earrings cost $115,000 and are a drop in the ocean next to the Aurora with its boulder-like diamond, you’ll get a gist of the ballpark you’d need to play in. We’ll just admire from afar…
FASHION FACT: This necklace wasn’t the only bespoke thing created for Lady Gaga’s Globes 2019 look. The voluminous Valentino Haute Couture gown she wore was created especially for her by designer Pierpaolo Piccoli.
