The devil works hard by Lorne Michaels works harder. Or at least that’s what the Saturday Night Live creator would like us to think since the SNL after-party has become the unofficial soft-launch spot for celebrity couples.

Indeed, the A-lister romances that survived the great summer of breakups have utilised early Sunday morning hours in Manhattan as the ubiquitous medium to flaunt their liaisons. This week was no different, with two-time SNL host, Timothee Chalamet, joined by his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, at a midtown club to celebrate the late-night comedy show.

Last week, the newly appointed designer’s older sister, Kendall Jenner, also showed up at the SNL after-party with her boyfriend, Bad Bunny. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Pete Davidson and Madelyn Cline and Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Bunhram have also used the weekly event to springboard their relationships into the public consciousness.

For the occasion, Jenner added an ‘It girl’ spin on the sultry LBD by pairing opaque nylon tights with a sensual, off-the-shoulder mini.

The star hasn’t explicitly confirmed the details of her outfit, but given the launch of her recent fashion line, Khy, one can assume she used the moment for a bout of “shameless self-promotion”, as Chalamet did in his opening monologue.

As for the upcoming Wonka star, Chalamet opted for his trademark nonchalant off-duty style. An apt move for the native New Yorker. Specifically, Chalamet wore a lavender hoodie emblazoned with the phrase “Oompa”, a lilac aviator jacket, black denim jeans, a black baseball cap and Converse sneakers.

Chalamet’s performance on SNL marked the first for the show since the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, with references to his upcoming body of work littered throughout.

However, given the setting, this included nods to Hugh Grant’s “Oompa Loompa dump truck” and the fact his recent work with Martin Scorsese was for a 60-second commercial for BLEU de CHANEL as opposed to a three-hour epic.

Of course, special mention goes to Chalamet and Grammy-nominated band Boygenius as a sleep paralysis demon disguised as Troye Sivan from his “Got Me Started” music video. Truly the most queer scene currently on television.
