Kylie Jenner dad jeans

Kylie Jenner is single-handedly bringing back dad jeans. Posting to Instagram in a series of posts, the beauty mogul donned a pair of mid-waisted, wide-legged pants, a cropped t-shirt and belly chain. It’s a welcomed revival of the tired ‘jeans and a t-shirt look’ we’ve come to know and love albeit, high fashion.

The blue psychedelic jeans are the product of Tom Ford’s Gucci spring 2001 men’s collection and sound the return of the relaxed silhouette. We’ve long been dreading the comeback of the ’90s and sequentially the ’00s era where double denim and velour tracksuits were running rampant. But unlike the visible G-string look, I could get amongst this trend.

Also worn by the likes of Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber – the supermodel reportedly used to steal her father’s jeans – the denim iteration is wildly versatile. It follows a long stint of the high-waisted mom jean – a nod to the ’80s – and although comfortable can be ill-fitting. Furthermore, you can rock the style by heading straight to a vintage store for an authentic look. GRAZIA suggests several tips for finding the perfect pair.

Firstly, look closely for stains and scents. Either are a big no-no. Be prepared to take your time. The first pair of vintage 501 Levi’s jeans you pick up aren’t going to fit perfectly (if they do, congratulations) and if they’re close but not quite right, a tailor can modify the fit. As for colour, stick to a deep indigo or faded wash. And if you consider yourself a bit of an artist, grab some fabric paint for a customisation that’s all your own.

Or if you’re looking for a shiny new pair, peruse our favourite styles below. Pop on a crop, blazer and cult brand heels. Voila! You’re ready for any occasion. And if worst comes to worst, you can raid your boyfriend’s wardrobe.
