Kourtney Kardashian has bravely opened up about the condition of her newborn son, Rocky Barker, which resulted in her undergoing urgent fetal surgery. Describing the swift medical intervention as “terrifying”, the reality star and wellness entrepreneur candidly spoke to her musician husband, Travis Barker, about the frightening health scare on the most recent episode of The Kardashians.
“A couple months ago, we had a terrifying scare where I had to have emergency fetal surgery,” the mother-of-four explained in a confessional. “Baby Rocky had to have fetal surgery for fluid in his lung,” she continued. “I was definitely filled with fear after the surgery.”
The 45-year-old then explained how she used positive thinking to provide solace and comfort during the confrontation. “I started talking to the baby every day, saying my prayers, and after I had that mindset shift, the fluid was completely gone and we had not one single problem after,” she recalled.

Kardashian’s amniotic sac was operated on in order to clear fluid in the baby boy’s lungs, with the procedure leaving her on bed rest.
Kardashian added that the condition is not only “super rare”, but that it’s “super rare and lucky that we caught it”. “I’m honestly just so grateful, I have no words,” she said.
Kardashian was rushed to hospital in February amid Barker’s Blink 182 world tour. The couple welcomed their first child together in November 2023. Rocky Thirteen, whose name holds special meaning, joined the Calabasas locals on their trip to Australia earlier this year.
In pictures from their travels, which you can see here, Rocky sadly didn’t join his family as they dined at the ritzy upmarket Mimi’s or refined brunch hotspot Bill’s, but did enjoy the sprawling views of the Sydney Harbour from the couple’s Bellevue Hill clifftop place of residence during their stay, Villa D’Estate.
