Kim Kardashian’s marathon of high-impact quarantine fashion moments continued today, with the unexpected addition of blue leather trousers. In a series of photos posted to the reality star’s Instagram, Kardashian wore a figure-hugging camel turtleneck, high-waisted Twitter-blue leather trousers, and a pair of embellished slingbacks by the cult-status shoewear designer, Amina Muaddi.

Kardashian finished the look off with a dramatic, Lara Croft-esque plaited ponytail—a beauty look both she and sister Kylie Jenner have been favouring these last few months. She captioned the shots “Hey, I’m here for you…” and tagged the singer Harry Hudson, whose second album, Hey, I’m Here For You, was released late last month and has already spiked on the Spotify charts.

Cult footwear aside, Kim’s latest look has us seriously considering investing in a pair of bold-hued leather trousers. Our interest was first piqued at the spring summer ’21 shows back in October, where Isabel Marant showed sporty, fire engine red leather trousers; Tod’s showed lavender and sage green iterations, and Salvatore Ferragamo showed a peachy-pink pair. Earlier, at the Resort shows, coloured leather pants were shown by Acne Studios and Off-White.

And then there’s Matériel Tbilisi, the Georgian fashion brand with a growing international following. Their pastel-hued faux leather trousers are enough to entice even the most ardent opponent to ‘fake’ materials. Or, you could go full Studio 54 in a pair of foil-style silver pants by the beloved British label Hillier Bartley.

Whatever you choose, you can rest assured you’ll be investing in a trend with longevity. Granted, Kim’s bright blue trousers are effortlessly ‘now’—but the beauty of leather trousers is that you can wear them year-round, and they never really go out of style. In spring, pop on a ribbed tank and flat sandals. In autumn, rug up in a turtleneck à la Kim. And if you’re on the fence about a bold colour palette, opt for a more classic hue like oxblood, mustard or navy.
