Fashion’s biggest night is back where it belongs, on the first Monday in May, and one of our red carpet favourites has returned to the stairs of the Met – Kaia Gerber. The star adhered the 2022 dress code of ‘gilded glamour’ in spectacular fashion, with an embroidered Alexander McQueen gown and XXL curls.

The supermodel shimmered in the floor-length dress, which featured tiny, intricate sequin patterns throughout. Cut-outs through the bodice of the dress and décolletage showed subtle glimpses of skin, with a completely sheer skirt that shone with delicate gossamer fringe.

And sure, it’s a show-stopping fashion moment – but we have to admit, it’s the beauty details that instantly made Gerber a contender for best-dressed in our books. The model chose to evoke an air of 80s decadence via larger-than-life, va-va-voom curls that teased out from the crown and tumbled to the star’s waist.

Gerber decorated her voluminous ringlets with pearl-adorned barrettes, which kept her waterfall of curls away from her soft, romantic makeup look. The star opted for a wet-look lilac eyeshadow with a black winged liner, long lashes and statement groomed arches.

Her skin glowed, with petal pink cheeks and muted lip both given a subtle slick of lustre to catch the light. Gerber also made her public debut with new beau Austin Butler, who walked the Met stairs separately but met up with the model later on the red carpet.

Can Gerber’s look be topped this year? TBC.
