A day after David and Victoria Beckham toasted their 25th wedding anniversary by reprising their iconic purple matrimonial outfits from their 1999 nuptials, Julia Roberts has offered a Y2K throwback of her own in celebration of her relationship milestone with husband Daniel Moder.
Indeed, the actress posted the sweetest (and surprisingly sultry!) nostalgic photo of her and Moder kissing in honour of their 22nd wedding anniversary. “Twenty two years!” Roberts simply captioned the post, adding a suite of emojis including multiple love hearts, the bride and groom, disco dancers and the US flag to accompany.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Roberts has published a digital display of affection towards her cinematographer husband, with the Academy Award winner making it a tradition to share a photo of them making out each year. Paris Hilton might be gifted extravagant holidays in celebration of her anniversaries, but this endearing annual post is something we look forward to each year.
Roberts and Moder wed in a secret ceremony thrown on July 4, 2022, in New Mexico. Guests including George Clooney and Brad Pitt were invited to her ranch in the desert town of Taos under the guise of “celebrating Independence Day”. The location was fitting considering the pair met a year earlier on set of the 2001 crime-comedy The Mexican.
Roberts was fresh from her divorce from country singer Lyle Lovett, while Moder was still married to makeup artist Vera Steimberg. In 2002, Roberts made headlines (and a subtle jab) at Steimberg by wearing a hand-made shirt sporting the phrase “A Low Vera”.
In 2022, twenty years into their marriage, Roberts opened up about the secret to her successful relationship. Her advice? “Making out. Lots of making out.” This blueprint feels especially relevant given their love of sharing loveable kissing photos.
