Julia Fox is a lot of things: actress, mum, bombshell, New York classic, ex-girlfriend of Ye, proud Birkin owner, uncuh jaaaams podcast icon. And she’s also now our favourite beauty influencer, in part due to her recent Instagram makeup tutorial for the infamous graphic ‘fox eye’ she wore during New York Fashion Week last month.

The smudgy black wing — originally orchestrated by makeup artist Pat McGrath (and assisted by boyfriend-at-the-time Kanye) — became somewhat of a viral sensation when debuted by Fox at the Kenzo show in NYC. Fox paired it with a double denim Schiaparelli set and Kanye on her arm, which understandably positioned her as the most watched/talked about women in the celebrity universe.

Now broken up with Kanye, Fox is still in the business of serving looks, the ‘fox eye’ as it’s been dubbed, being one of them. Earlier today, she actually graced the internet with a DIY tutorial before the Independent Spirit Awards, showing us exactly how she creates it at home (chaos included).

Fox starts with a her base: iS Clinical Active Serum. It’s an interesting choice — it’s an extremely potent exfoliating serum for congested skin — but Fox says it gives her a “dewy glow”. We concur.

Next up comes her base, which naturally involved Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk applied with her fingers. Fox then adds a little definition with Westman Atelier’s Bronzer Stick, and gives her cheekbones a double hit of glow by layering EspressOh’s Glassy Blush and Pat McGrath’s Skin Fetish Highlighter & Balm Duo. At this point, Fox shares she has rosacea (who knew?!) so tends to keep it simple in the cheek department.

The Uncut Gems star then moves on to brows, filling them slightly with a crayon accompanied by the statement, “I prefer skinny brows, they’re hotter”. Consider us grabbing the tweezers and getting to work. After a dusting of Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze and Glow, it’s on to the eye, a graphic shape she sketches using a Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette, gel eyeliner and LOTS of makeup wipes. There’s a few mishaps along the way, but in 16 minutes Fox has created one of the most Instagrammable makeup moments this year, and who are we to judge.

To wrap, she finishes with the following statement: “I love it, I think it’s fierce. Fuck what the haters think.”

Amen.
