Julia Fox may have started out as Josh Safdie’s muse in Uncut Gems (or ‘Uncah Jahmz‘, to be enunciatively accurate to the star’s Cali girl vocal fry), but she’s now begun serving as muse to the masses.
From her viral vocal cadence to her seemingly endless supply of steady confidence, it seems Fox’s breakup with rapper Kanye ‘Ye’ West has only further cemented her place in pop culture.
Fox’s signature look – black OTT eyeshadow that blends out and upward to the temples – has become so synonymous with the star that it became a popular filter on TikTok. But it seems that now she’s ready to shake up her public persona, starting with her eye makeup, which was famously applied by Ye back in January.
Appearing at Milan Fashion Week, Fox sat front row at the Diesel show wearing a fresh beauty look that all but inverts her cosmetic trademark. Rather than the heavy, pitch-black shadow she’s donned in recent months, Fox opted instead for a graphic silver-white eye look that followed a similar wing-span to her typical inky eye makeup.
The chalky hue was applied like a delicate, artful brushstroke, from the inner corner of the eye, through the crease and out towards her hairline. Neutral bronze shadow was applied to the lid, with defined lashes and groomed brows anchoring the aesthetic.
Of course, Fox didn’t discard her penchant for dark makeup altogether. Instead, she took the deeper hue down to her lips with a precision-perfect application of black lipstick to contrast with her angelic eye look.
If anything, this look provides further evidence of Fox’s staying power as a muse (in the realm of makeup, at least). While black lipstick has increasingly been seen on the runways in recent seasons, many It girls have yet to be so bold as to wear it in the light of day – bar Fox, that is.
We’d expect nothing less.
