Can you remember the first piece of really, really specially jewellery you ever owned?

For many of us, it was a silver heart with the words Return to Tiffany stamped on the front. That was certainly the case for international fashion blogger, model and GRAZIA Market Editor Nadia Fairfax, who starred in our poolside Return to Summer fashion shoot, captured by photographer Tane Coffin at sunset on the roof of Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel Double Bay.

To celebrate the start of New York Fashion Week today, we spoke to the Fairfax Journal founder (who just happens to divide her time at home between Sydney and Manhattan these days) about her first Tiffany memories and modelling the city’s most iconic jewellery brand.

Are you a gold or silver girl? I wear both. I see jewellery the same way I see fashion: the perfect way to show different parts of your personality. I change up my style pretty frequently and wear which ever colour bling the outfit calls for.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE OUTFIT FROM THIS SHOOT? The Marysia Bikini top and Ginger & Smart x Hatmaker look. It instantly transported me back to my last European holiday. I also adored the super thin chain bracelet on my right hand.

WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER OF BEING GIVEN YOUR FIRST PIECE OF SPECIAL JEWELLERY? My first piece was Tiffany & Co, a silver chain bracelet with heart pendent. I was about 12 or 13 I think. The funny thing is, I cant remember which occasion it was given to me for or who it was even from, but I remember that I was so proud of it and I kept that little blue box for years and years.

If you could keep one piece from this shoot, which would it be? The Return to Tiffany narrow circle edge cuff. It’s the perfect combination of a classic versus modern and reminds me of great times in my teens, but a touch more grown up.

New York Fashion Week starts today. How do you normally plan your front row show outfits? I love NYFW and this is the first one I’ve missed in quite a few seasons – gaahhh! But I almost always start with a statement piece and then work out how to build the rest of my fashion week outfit around it.
