Call us dramatic, but the thought wearing a midriff-baring crop top together with the cut-out trend is nothing short of alarming. Further still, cut-outs at the underarm area, arguably the unsexiest part of one’s arm. Frightening. But apparently not for Hailey Bieber. Out on date night in Miami last night with husband Justin Bieber, Hailey executed three risky trends in one – the crop top, the cut-out and the thong heel. With a pair of high-waisted denim jeans, Hailey wore a long-sleeved, zip-up crop which finished just below her bust, revealing a whole lot of tummy (and a tiny one at that).
But perhaps most interesting were the unusual, sculptural cut-outs, which began from the underarm and tracked along the bicep area. With cut-outs a major trend at the moment, they typically feature at the midriff, hip or shoulder area, with local designers Dion Lee, Christopher Esber and Zimmermann all indulging a little cutaway. But Hailey Bieber’s were in a different if not strange place, an area not conducive to traditional cut-out behaviour. Add a thong heel to the equation, 2019’s most popular and polarising shoe trend, and the fashion risk factor hits high.
As for the couple’s penchant for “couple dressing”, it continued. Justin also wore jeans with a white top, although his revealed no sign of tummy nor featured precarious cut-outs, rather a big ol’ yellow smiley face on a hoodie from his own label, Drew House. Pairing the jumper with a chunky silver chain (very in vogue, indeed), pink hair and slippers – yes, slippers – it was a risqué look we think best not to replicate.
