Hailey Bieber has proven herself to be something of a 90s fan, having dabbled in a number of the era’s biggest beauty trends in recent years. From scrunchies to barrettes, bobby pins and butterfly clips, Bieber regularly references the trending period in her looks – but now it seems she’s taking direct inspiration from some of the era’s biggest Hollywood starlets, including the ultimate 90s sweetheart, Julia Roberts.
Bieber recently fronted up to an awards ceremony in a structured cut-out Miu Miu ensemble with an exaggerated collar and power shoulders, which are both style features synonymous with the period, in which Roberts was a red carpet regular. But as Bieber’s makeup artist Mary Phillips revealed on Instagram, the model’s hair and makeup was also styled after some of the actress’ most iconic beauty looks.
“Julia Roberts’ iconic 90s looks was our inspo,” she wrote in a caption alongside an image of Bieber from the evening. The model showcased a flawless, glowing base with full, neatly groomed brows. Her creamy complexion was warmed up with natural bronzer across her temples and a peachy blush on the apples of her cheeks.
Phillips left her eye makeup chic and subtle, with a muted chestnut hue washed over her entire lid and a few coats of mascara to define the lashes. The lips were lined in a quintessentially 90s hue, with an understated, satin-finish nude lipstick applied over the top.
Bieber’s hair featured a deep side-part, with hairstylist Bryce Scarlett sweeping most of the model’s locks to one side in soft waves. Lengths from the opposing side were smoothed behind Bieber’s ear, for a modern take on classic old Hollywood glamour.
Obsessed is an understatement.
