Goop Vagina Candle Explodes

Ah, Gwyneth Paltrow. While we love her commitment to speaking up about taboo health topics, controversy is never far away. Case in point: the Goop-founders vagina scented candle (aptly titled, ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’) has reportedly exploded in a UK home. Details are still emerging, but according to The Sun, 50 year old media consultant Jody Thompson was minding her own business when the candle “exploded and emitted huge flames, with bits flying everywhere.”

“I’ve never seen anything like it. The whole thing was ablaze and it was too hot to touch. There was an inferno in the room,” she added.

Thankfully, no one was harmed during the incident, with Thompson explaining she threw the explosive scent out the front door. She too saw the funny side… once it was safely extinguished: “It could have burned the place down. It was scary at the time, but funny looking back that Gwyneth’s vagina candle exploded in my living room.”

The candle was the first of two bespoke scents launched by Goop last year. The Vagina iteration incorporated notes of bergamot, cedar absolutes, Damask rose and ambrette seed, while the follow up flavour – aptly called ‘This Smells Like My Orgasm’ – was a zingy blend of grapefruit neroli, and ripe cassis berries.

While Thompson told The Sun she won her candle in a competition, the two home fragrance products have been wildly popular since their launch. No word on the orgasm scent exploding as of yet – fingers crossed it’s not an ongoing issue.
