As a supermodel, Gigi Hadid is used to switching up her hair colours, hairstyles and cuts on set. But the new mama also experiments outside of the runway and photography studio, having dabbled in numerous shades over the years. From beachy lo-fi blonde to deep chocolate locks and most recently a spicy auburn, Hadid has well and truly proven that she can pull off anything.
So when she debuted a new platinum blonde hair look on Instagram, it was unsurprising that the icy shade suited her. Hadid’s locks were blown out into a bouncy, voluminous style, reminiscent of other iconic blondes such as Pamela Anderson and Marilyn Monroe. Posting the snap to her Instagram Stories, the 25-year-old tagged her hair stylist Panos Papandrianos alongside the caption, “We have fun.”
But while Hadid seemed happy with her hair transformation, it does appear to have been a wig worn for a photo shoot – so perhaps the model isn’t over her maple latte tresses just yet. In subsequent posts Hadid seems to still be wearing her warm red locks, which indicates her platinum look was only a test run.
However, we also wouldn’t put it past Hadid to be tricking us all into thinking the new shade wasn’t a permanent shift. After Papandrianos dyed her hair red in February, Hadid managed to keep it under wraps (literally) by wearing a neon green beanie right up until the Versace A/W21 show, where she debuted the striking new hue.
After the show, Hadid shared the transformation on her Instagram, admitting that Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit served as inspiration. “She is dedicated to everyone responsible for The Queen’s Gambit,” she wrote alongside a snap of her new waist-length locks that closely resembled the red shade rocked by Anya Taylor-Joy‘s character in the series.
We can’t wait to see what’s next.
