Gigi Hadid is pleasingly experimental with her beauty looks, which we much appreciate. The supermodel has embraced fresh hair colours and styles in recent years, including her switch from blonde to maple-hued hair and the bubble plaits she wore to her birthday outing a few months back.
But Hadid is equally as adventurous with her makeup looks, as she recently demonstrated on Instagram. The new mama to baby Khai served some serious face with her signature bronzed base, subtle blush, nude lips and brushed-up brows, but it was the zesty pop of tangerine eye shadow that really stopped us mid-scroll.
The citrus colour stood out against the model’s otherwise neutral-toned makeup, giving her classic fluttery lashes and winged liner a playful, summery vibe. Interestingly, Hadid’s makeup artist Patrick Ta kept the neon shock of orange-yellow relegated to the inner corner of her eye, leaving the rest of the lid a muted beige.
It’s a modern, fashion-forward beauty look that also somehow manages to conjure flashbacks to an unmentionable period during high school that I knowingly overdosed on inner corner shimmer (I was very inspired by J.Lo, okay?).
However Hadid isn’t the first celebrity to don bright orange eyeshadow – Dua Lipa has also proven to have a bit of an orange crush, and Hailey Bieber‘s viral ‘Peaches’ makeup challenge employs similarly fruity hues.
The punchy colour is perfect for those in the Northern Hemisphere stepping into summer, or anyone looking to at the very least feel summer-adjacent as they shiver through winter.
