If the Met Gala is the Olympics of people watching, then Gigi Hadid is the torch because on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet she was looking absolutely fire this evening. Pun intended. It is fair to say that the eldest Hadid is one of the most anticipated guests of the red carpet and this year, she nailed the brief.

For those of you just joining us, the 2022 Met Gala theme is In American: An Anthology of Fashion also known as Gilded Glamour, a sartorial tribute to the American designers of the 19th and mid-20th century. While the model chose to wear Italian atelier Versace – alongside co-chair Blake Lively – her look captured all the opulence and extravagance of the gilded age.

She looked tiny in a red latex jumpsuit and corset which was worn underneath a huge quilted cape. Credit needs to go to the red carpet assistants who could be seen lugging the train up the Met stairs. Hadid’s hair was slicked back in an undone bun with a deep red ombre lip finishing off the jaw-dropping ensemble.

The supermodel is joined by her younger sister Bella who skipped the Met Gala – much to the disgust of fans – in September last year. This evening, Bella was captured wearing a bondage-esque leather and lace gown by Burberry’s Riccardo Tisci.
