As guests filed into the first show of the first full day of MBFWA in the epicly cool concrete Carriageworks venue, crowds of wannabe social media heroes strutting for the waiting street style paparazzi, there were three big-name fashion stars who stood out for all the right reasons.

Standing on the floral-patterned carpet that lined the Alice McCall Resort 2018 show runway at the request of news agency photographers, model Georgia Fowler looked as comfortable as she did cool in a plaid-print Bally suit, Gucci loafers and plain white Stella McCartney tee.

Likewise, GRAZIA market editor and Fairfax Journal fashion blogger Nadia Fairfax‘s opted for fun prints and flat pumps with her Day One look: knit by Stella McCartney over a polkadot Azzedine Alaia dress and simple white trainers.

Model and television host Kate Peck pre-empted the Double Rainbou Resort 2018 show happening later in the day with a bold printed cotton shirt by the gender neutral beach-lifestyle brand, teamed with comfy chinos by Kow Tow and block heels by Alias Mae.

The style moral to this pre-McCall runway story? You don’t need to wear outrageous bling, skyscraper heels and serious designer fashion to steal the limelight. A little crazy pattern and comfort goes a long way.
