Perhaps you got swept away again (like you did in the first trailer) by the overtly sensual remake of Beyoncé’s Crazy In Love, this time performed by Miguel. The passion, the tension, the drama; it’s all electrifying. But if you take a closer look like I have, three, four, seven, eleven times at the newly released trailer today, you’ll notice a few weird insights into Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

Exhibit A: Anastasia is poor. Really poor.

When Ana discovers the all-but CIA file Christian has kept on her, we discover she only has $683.16 in her bank account. Yes, we know she’s a university student working in a hardware store but author E.L. James could have flicked her a little more money to not make the pay gap between she and her billionaire boyfriend so large and perhaps reflect 2016 a little more. If you look really close, you can see her political affiliation is listed as “none found” which means she’s never voted. Again, not doing great things for womankind Mr James. If you’d like to transfer Ana any funds, her bank account number is 309361 listed at Seattle Corporate Bank.

Exhibit B: Christian has too many phallic pieces of furniture

We know Christian’s obsessed with sex but we also know the first film was considered rather sexually tame, even with an R rating. Could the props specialist have been instructed to insert as many phallic pieces of furniture imaginable into each shot? Look at that lamp on his desk. And that weird face/skull monument in the corner. Even the chairs. And seriously, what is a pummel horse doing in his apartment?

Exhibit C: Rita Ora was promised a small part in this film

Here’s hoping this isn’t it. (That’s her on the right in the picture frame.)
