As much as we’re fans of an epic, Cirque du Soleil-grade runway spectacle (a la the Camilla With Love closing show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia), sometimes a collection’s so cute it captures our full attention anyway.
Something a little like the new Fendi Cruise 2019 range, for example, which has been revealed via a series of lookbook images rather than a standard show.
Why? Because when you’ve got elegant, eclectic clothes that are quintessentially FF – all feminine colours and deluxe fabrics, statement bags and gold-plated bling – a still photo is all it takes to sell the dream.
Think mannish tie-inspired graphic patterns and pleated asymmetric skirts for daytime, then velvet and crystal-studded embellishment spicing up tulle-insert dresses for the night.
Oh, and then there’s the metallic cowboy boots with their lofty three-inch heels. Not the first type of footwear that comes to mind with the word Cruise, but definitely the one that guarantees fun in the sun.
