No, it’s not a hostage situation, just Emily Ratajkowski’s friends taking her to her surprise baby shower.
The model and soon-to-be-mother is expecting her first child with husband Sebastian-Bear McClard. Today, she was escorted blindfolded and masked-up from her home in New York to the NoMad Hotel for an intimate baby shower with her closest friends. Among them was Sarah Hoover, art dealer at the Gagosian Gallery and wife to artist Tom Sachs – so you know it was bound to be a tasteful, if not quirky affair.
Prior to the event, Ratajkowski’s gal pals gifted her with an outfit for the occasion; a sheer, snake print dress with black knee-high boots and to top it off a comical pink eye mask embroidered with the words ‘do not disturb’ (for confidentiality purposes) before she was shuttled off to the hotel.
At the venue, Ratajkowski was treated to a space-themed setup replete with Tom Sachs hand-drawn art, courtesy of Hoover. Menus, temporary tattoos, tie-dye face masks, star balloons, jumpers, chocolate cigarettes, party hats, crackers, crowns and disposable cameras with a recurring ‘Bearata’ motifs were scattered atop the extravagant table setting. The 29-year-old sang praises for her baby shower organisers on Instagram.
The three-course meal from the morning included scrambled eggs with caviar and creme fraiche before Ratajkowski was presented with a deluxe space-themed cake by baker Betsy Thorleifson, complete with stars, planets and all.
Emily later went on to post to her Instagram stories some of the gifts she received which included personalised dressing gowns and cushions for ‘Mama Bear, Daddy Bear, and baby Bearata’.
