When is a sunglass not a run-of-the mill designer sunglass? When it’s hand-crafted by artisans as skilled as the ones pouring over a label’s couture pieces for its VIP (read: wealthy) customers.
Anyone who’s remotely interested in fashion or social media (or in our cases, both simultaneously) over the past year will recall the classic all-metal Dior sunglasses regularly spotted on street style stars and celebrities like Rihanna and Jennifer Lawrence in the past year.

But now the French brand, which recently announced Maria Grazia Chiuri its first female creative director, has upped the ante (and the price) with several new versions of the DiorSoReal style for its Cruise 2017 collection, adding a wave-like three-stripe effect to the lens pattern in one style, and a series of brow-level tiny studs to another.
See for yourself in this short film:
What’s remained constant is the style’s signature high bridge (which just means the two lenses are connected by a line across your eyebrows rather than nose. If you don’t own a pair in this style yet, regardless of brand, we’d suggest you purchase some immediately.)

You’ll be mesmerised watching the short video (above) showcasing the fine art of creating what’s set to be one of the hottest shades-of-choice for fashion bloggers, editors and a host of style-savvy celebs in the Autumn/Winter 2017 fashion weeks front rows. (Confession: those diamante-like stud painstakingly placed one by one is the design touch that won us over.)

The DiorSoReal sunglasses start at $860 for the coloured style, ranging up to $910 for the studded versions (considerably more than the $500-odd the style cost last season) and will be available in Dior boutiques around Australia from mid November. We’ll flag the day they drop for you on our GRAZIA Instagram feed.
The means in this case surely justify the new end (price), right?
