Overnight, Dior returned to the French runway to show its haute couture Fall / Winter 2021-2022 collection. Held at the Musée Rodin in Paris, it was elegant, triumphant and inspiring — and as always, put great emphasis on the story and messaging behind each garment.
Alongside the signature embroidery, feminine suiting and voluminous shapes was an equally chic beauty look. Creative and Image Director of Christian Dior Makeup Peter Philips worked alongside esteemed hair stylist Guido Palau to create a dichotomy of bold eyes and sleek hair — striking the perfect balance between strong and soft (as the house of Dior does so well on all fronts).
Philips used the Dior 24 Hour Stylo liner crayon to create an upside-down winged liner, before shading it with a navy hue from the 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette in Denim. Skin was creamy and matte, lips were natural but amplified, and cheeks were barely dusted with blush. Philips is an artist known for both his perfectionism and creativity, so it’s no surprise the overall look was edgy and cool, but still polished and chic.
Palau played up natural texture, crafting individual looks for each model. From a Michelle Pfeiffer style bob circa Scarface to slick natural braids, hair was diverse on all fronts, but still adhered to an overall smooth, elevated, hyper-glossed aesthetic.
