One of the iconic pieces from the house of Dior, the Bar Jacket, turns 75, a good reason no doubt to review the history of the French maison that has been revolutionising itself and the fashion sphere for decades. It was on February 12, 1947 when the French designer Christian Dior presented his debut collection at the equally mythical number 30 Avenue Montaigne, Paris.
The garment, which has such characteristic architectural lines, has stood the test of time to become a classic, and in the modern day the French house continues to include it in its collections. Today Dior premieres The Greek Bar Jacket, a documentary short film on the formative piece and the conceptualisation and realisation of the Dior Cruise 2022 collection.
Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, has entrusted filmmaker Marianna Economou to reveal the secrets of the acclaimed Cruise 2022 collection that took place in Athens. Through The Greek Bar Jacket, the director takes us on an encounter with local artists and artisans and their virtuous savoir-faire, and traces the creative process of Chiuri’s women’s collections.
