Following a surprise breakup from Australian actor Jacob Elordi, it seems Kaia Gerber has happily moved on. The young model sparked romance rumours in December when she was photographed with Austin Butler. Sources have now confirmed the relationship and Gerber’s supermodel mother, Cindy Crawford, approves.
“They’re newly dating,” an insider told Page Six this week. “Kaia thinks Austin is a sweetheart. They’re having a lot of fun getting to know each other.” The source also noted that her parents are “supportive of the relationship and only want to see Kaia happy.”
Just a few days out from Christmas, the couple were seen heading to the airport in Los Angeles suggesting things are getting a little more serious between the pair. Nor Gerber or Butler have publicly addressed the new relationship. The pair are notoriously private so we can’t expect anything “instagram official” for sometime.
In a past interview for i-D, Gerber explained why she likes to keep quiet on her personal life. “You have to silence the outside world,” she told the publication. “The only people who know anything about anything are the people in the relationship. The public is very loud, so you have to make your own feelings even louder.”
Similarly, Gerber said in another interview that she admired how her mother was able to separate her work and personal life. “I admire how down to earth my mom is… everyone would ask me what’s it like to have Cindy Crawford as your mom, but Cindy Crawford (the supermodel) wasn’t my mom – she did a really good job of separating her work and home life.”
Geber was previously linked to Elordi for just over 12 months. Before that she famously (and briefly) dated SNL star, Pete Davidson. Butler shared a short fling with Lily-Rose Depp after they were seen locking lips in August 2021. He had dated actress Vanessa Hudgens prior to that for almost ten years before they split in 2020 due to conflicting schedules.
