If she could make us want to crimp our hair and tweeze our brows into oblivion, then Christina Aguilera can surely make the case for a purse skirt with a handle with her recent look.

With her platinum blonde hair in a tousled updo, glossy nude lips and long nails boasting a black and white graphic design, the Grammy Award-winning singer put on a very Y2K display. Showing off her style on Instagram, she wore a fitted black t-shirt and clear PVC mules—paired back choices to let her bottoms do all the talking.

What first appeared to be a personalised Hermès Birkin Bag being held up in front of her bottoms actually turned out to be the skirt itself.

A pink, crystal-covered micro mini from Berlin-based brand Namilia, the skirt is designed to mimic the style of the famed Hermès Birkin bag. While it’s not technically a functional purse, it does feature faux flaps, a lock and dangling clochette, and even top handle straps.

In another photo, she gave her followers a close-up look at the statement piece, where the skirt’s sparkle could really be seen.

A recent release, the skirt is from the label’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, aptly titled ‘In loving memory of my sugar daddy’. On the runway, it featured a lace-up side which the singer may have opted out of and was styled with a matching bedazzled t-shirt and faux fur shawl—a very 2000s Xtina look if we do say.

With chaps, mesh, leather and other dominatrix-style designs dominating the brand’s offbeat aesthetic, it’s clear why Namilia has landed fans in Rihanna, Cardi B, Paris Hilton, SZA and Jennifer Lopez.

As a pioneer of ‘naughty noughties’ fashion, the pop icon is once again all over moodboards, as Gen Z take to the decade’s most controversial trends. Hell, we wouldn’t be surprised if her ‘Dirty’-era leather chaps and streaks make a comeback this year.
