The Grand Palais was fashioned into a maze of Parisian rooftops yesterday at the Chanel Spring/Summer2020 show. It was breezy and youthful, with models getting around in hot pants (a la Gigi), tweed playsuits, boucle, and sturdy pops of pink. It was the picture-perfect Parisian summer, characterised by Creative Director Virginie Viard’s streamlined take on Chanel house codes.

Collection aside, we were also enamoured with the show’s makeup look – a poppy, shimmering face dreamt up by Chanel’s Global Creative Make up and Colour Designer Lucia Pica.

Skin was fresh and luminous, as if it had been misted with a super-fine spray of iridescent glitter. Eyes were painted the colour of a crisp glass of French Rosé, which is, according to Pica, a shadow yet to be released. To keep it glossy, she topped it with the brand’s Baume Essentiel highlighting stick. The lolly-ice lips though were the beauty pièce de résistance – a watermelon-hued tint that looked as natural in Paris as it would in Bondi. The clear gloss on top was saccharine perfection too. Our new Sumer makeup mood, sorted. For the exact shade used on the runway, see below.
