Even for the most amateur of snow bunnies there is nothing more glamorous than a little après ski. As the temperatures plummet to below zero in the Swiss Alps and high atop the mountains in Japan, those white flecks of snow also signal the return of Chanel Coco Neige.

For the uninitiated of such an anticipated release, each year sees the French fashion house reinterpret winter sportswear, combining elegance with technicality. This season welcomes several iterations of the quilted jacket, an ode to the House’s hallmark design cues, and much needed layering pays homage to the iconography of the slopes.

Knitwear is treated with the double-C and crops made for the altitude marry with waterproof pants – the link chain belt a must for styling. The classic thermal legging is emblazoned in glittering silver diamantés and the sweater vest is given a modern update. The staple puffer jacket is reimagined with tiny puffed quilting and is available in baby pink or white.

Designed by creative director Virginie Viard for both the ski fields and après, pieces can be mixed and matched with a harmonic colour palette of pastel tones. Think, glacier blue, pale pink and ecru, enhanced with pop fuchsia and sophisticated burgundy. Must-haves, even for soaked and sodden Sydney-siders.

The new collection coincides with a vibrant campaign. The production was entrusted by way of an animated film and a series of visuals by the REMEMBERS collective. Pop culture codes collide with those of the House in a series of cartoon-like vignettes featuring ski scenery superimposed with the signature double C and Chanel lettering.

The Coco Neige 2022/23 collection will be available in a selection of boutiques globally from October 18. Kylie Jenner, we imagine, will be first in line.
