At the Bulgari Hotel in Milan this weekend, the Italian luxury house unveiled the Spring/Summer 2022 Leather Goods and Accessories collection. The likes of Iris Law and Barbara Palvin dazzled in the brand’s glittering jewels as they celebrated the three moods that make up the forthcoming offering. Titled AMOROMA, SS22 pays homage to the brand’s greatest source of inspiration: Rome.
Firstly, the season opens with the introduction of the new INFINITUM motif, a tribute to the magnificence and timeless beauty of Rome, adopting the legendary Bulgari logo as a distinctive element of design. Reminiscent of the colossal inscriptions on Rome’s obelisks, the text is emblazoned onto the contemporary Bulgari Tote bag. Available in Black or Ivory Opal Calf Leather the roomy style combines functionality and elegant style.
Marking the first mood in the Bulgari collection is a nod to the eternal city’s radiance. The Italian House is best known for its glamorous evening clutches and neat purses. RADIANCE instead takes on fresh silhouettes such as the new Serpenti Bag hobo shape and Serpenti Jewellery bag – inspired by an original 1920s silver jewellery box from the heritage collection.
The hobo however is far from slouchy. In a nod to retro style, it is crafted with the utmost of artisanal skill and combines a perfectly rounded half-moon shape, zipper closure and a thick leather strip which connect a bejewelled Serpenti head to a magnetic closure. The most chic everyday bag if we ever saw one.
The second mood of the collection is named SUNSHINE. Expectedly, the classic Serpenti Forever shape in both a top-handle and chain iteration are treated with precision laser-cutting techniques to portray the rays of the sun. The Serpenti Diamond Blast Sunshine Quilted bag similarly references these nuances by way of quilting.
For the third and final mood from the SS22 collection, BLOOMING ROME, Bulgari draws from the Eternal City’s exciting colour palette. Alongside some of the aforementioned silhouettes, the Serpenti Maxi Cabochon and the Serpenti Maxi Chain are crafted in vibrant hues of citrine, peridot, coral and sapphire.
The collection is neatly rounded out with small leather goods such micro and nano bags as well as printed scarves and exotic eyewear. Selected styles will release from October 1, onwards.
