According to the Old Testament, a serpent appears to Eve in the Garden of Eden and tempts her to eat the forbidden fruit. For Italian luxury brand Bulgari, the imaginary paradise of Eden is instead mood-boosting, a place where femininity is bound by no rules and the snake is instead a motif (and temptation) of decadent accessories. This sartorial oasis serves as the home and inspiration of the jeweller’s Fall/Winter 2022 Leather Goods & Accessories collection which was unveiled at Milan Fashion Week last month.

This season’s key silhouettes feature the soft and fluid lines of the innovative Serpentine Pouch, and again with the crisp shape of the Serpentine Vertical Tote bag, which welcomes a sinuous heritage-inspired interpretation of the snake. A luxurious soft matelassé body marks the debut of the Serpenti Reverse – a glam and playful wardrobe essential – while the new Serpenti Forever East-West bag is a versatile addition to the line, even in its Maxi Chain rendition.

A mix of reinterpreted classics, from the Serpenti Forever to Serpenti Cabochon, are updated with fresh nuances, new materials and intricate workmanship, including a selection of ultra-luxe pieces in vibrant python skin.

The mini and micro bag phenomenon continues (no matter how impractical) in the realm of small leather goods, with compact versions or jewel-like interpretations of some of the collection’s must-have styles, while versatile designs, shade-on-shade colours and contemporary appeal form the textile collection.

To round out the accessories, the brand’s eyewear offering features new iterations of Bulgari’s most emblematic icons including the minimalist B.zero1 styles, Serpenti models and the timeless BULGARI Aluminium creations dedicated to men.

The unveiling at Milan Fashion Week is accompanied by an official campaign from Bulgari starring Vittoria Ceretti in a far flung European paradise. What we image to be Eden.
