Brooklyn Beckham – the 21-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham – announced his engagement to model girlfriend Nicole Peltz, 25, at the weekend. “Two weeks ago I asked my soulmate to marry me and she said yes,” Beckham wrote on his Instagram. “I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day. I love you baby.”
In February, weeks before Europe went into lockdown, GRAZIA’s sister publication ICON travelled to Paris to shoot their biannual cover with Beckham. In the interview, he told me of his love for New York City, having lived there as a photography student while attending Parsons University in 2017. Aside from recommending I eat at a pizza restaurant in Brooklyn called Lucali, Beckham talked about his dreams of living in the Big Apple again someday.
“I’ve always been in love with New York. Everywhere you go, there’s interesting people, interesting places to take pictures, the food is great – I’m a very big food guy,” he said.
“When I moved to New York, it was amazing. I loved it, it’s where I want to be based when I’m a bit older and I’d like to start a family there,” he says.
Peltz was born in Westchester County, New York, and is the daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Heffner.
“You’ve made me the luckiest girl in the world,” Peltz wrote on an Instagram picture of the couple – and her diamond ring – in a lavender field. “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life by your side. Your love is the most precious gift.”
The bride-to-be is wearing a canary yellow number from future mother-in-law Victoria Beckham’s SS20 collection.
“The MOST exciting news!! We could not be happier that Brooklyn and Nicola are getting married,” Victoria wrote on her own Instagram. “Wishing you so much love and a lifetime of happiness.”
“I love you so so much Victoria. I’m the luckiest girl,” Peltz responded.
We wonder if Victoria will design the wedding dress – and if indeed it will take place in New York City.
Congratulations to the happy couple.
