Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have tied the knot in an intimate ceremony from her home today in a rumoured Versace gown. Spears’ mother Lynne and sister Jamie Lynn were not invited nor were her sons Sean Preston and Jayden Jam.
“Britney and Sam are getting married today in a small ceremony at her home in Thousand Oaks,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “They are so excited. They have felt like true partners for a long time and can’t wait to officially be husband and wife.”
“Britney’s mom [Lynne Spears], dad [Jamie Spears], and [sister] Jamie Lynn were not invited,” the insider added. “Ever since Britney and Sam talking about getting married and planning their wedding, inviting them was never a question.”
A source did tell People however that the guest list featured A-listers such as Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez, Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow. How chic.
In images obtained by the publication, a large white tent could be see in the courtyard of the Californian home while another image shows the couple in the back of a white Rolls Royce while drinking champagne.
Despite the happy occasion, TMZ reported that Spears’ first husband – Jason Alexander whom she married in 2004 for just 55 hours – attempted to crash the wedding. During an Instagram livestream he reportedly found his way past security and into the house before he was eventually restrained outside.
Asghari proposed to Spear last September with a 4 carat round cut brilliant stone in a platinum cathedral setting. “The thought and detail Sam put into this ring made the design process so special for Roman and our team,” jeweller Forever Diamonds NY wrote to social media at the time. “In honor of the Lioness herself, we are naming this gorgeous setting The Britney.”
The proposal arrived after Spears long-contested conservatorship prevented her from getting married or having children. The couple announced the pop star was pregnant in April. Weeks later she suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.
