Britney Spears isn’t done collecting her well-due reparations after decades of vitriolic treatment at the hands of Hollywood. In her best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me—a book that sold a million copies in the first week alone—Spears shed new light on highly-scrutinised elements of her life.

This included details about her abusive 13-year-long conservatorship, the events that led up to shaving her head in 2007 and never-before-heard accounts about her relationship with Justin Timberlake. Amongst the revelations regarding the childhood stars turned pop supernovas’ four-year relationship, Spears divulged how hurt she was after being made the villain in their break-up story.

For the uninitiated, Timberlake claimed Spears’ infidelity caused their split, which the singer not only vehemently denied in the memoir, but also claimed the 42-year-old did “as ammunition for his record”. Following the demise of their relationship in 2002, Timberlake released the chart-topping single “Cry Me A River”, which perpetuated the narrative that Spears cheated on him.

“In the news media, I was described as a harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy,” Spears again addressed in her memoir. “The truth: I was comatose in Louisiana, and he was happily running around Hollywood.”

Despite Timberlake never addressing Spears’ allegations publicly, it’s clear the Trolls actor is familiar with the content—or at least the backlash to his reported behaviour—as the singer took to the stage at his Las Vegas concert to comment. While introducing “Cry Me A River”, Timerblake casually said “No disrespect”, seemingly addressing Spears.

The mother of two immediately hit back on Instagram with a now-deleted post. As obtained by People, the caption of her post discussed a 2001 charity basketball game when Spears and Timberlake famously wore matching jerseys emblazoned with their respective couple nicknames.
