Billie Eilish works hard but her hair stylist works harder, with the singer unveiling yet another fresh colour on Instagram overnight.
The hair chameleon broke the internet back in March last year when she unveiled a platinum blonde wolf cut that saw her through the Met Gala, a British Vogue cover and the launch of her debut fragrance. But then in December, she crossed back over to the dark side, posting a selfie titled ‘Miss Me?’ that showed off a fresh chocolate brown shade.
And now, on the eve of her tour, Billie has revealed her newest (and darkest) colour to date: black. Captioned with a black square emoji, it’s giving a grunge/Paramore-era angsty feeling — and we’re here for it. It actually feels very much in tune with the Indie Sleaze resurgence we’re living in, characterised by band shirts, drainpipe jeans, ballet flats and a general sense of looking dishevelled.
When you look at Billie’s beauty evolution over the last 12 months, it’s been quite unexpected. Her signature neon-tinted hair and baggy designer fits were suddenly swapped out for bombshell blonde, vintage lingerie and Oscar de la Renta gowns on the red carpet. There was also her first fragrance Eilish, a woody, gourmand blend of cacao, vanilla, and spice. It was pretty much a beauty 180, although. the latest hue feels like the 16 year old the world fell in love with. But what’s so refreshing about Billie is her approach to the way she looks: she doesn’t care, and what she does with her body is her decision and hers only. As it should be.
But back to the black, it’s no secret that Eilish’s fans are among some of the most obsessed in the celebrity universe, so maybe the shade is about to make a triumphant return? Time will tell.
