Synonymous with tailoring and romantic drapery, Bianca Spender has entered her first foray in denim in a partnership with fellow Australian label, Nobody Denim. In acknowledgement of a commitment to the environment, local production and the Australian fashion industry, the two brands have released a limited-edition capsule of conscious ready-to-wear denim styles.

While casual everyday wear comes to fore post-pandemic, the designer sought out a likeminded brand to bring the elements of her craftsmanship and style cues to a more relaxed collection.

“I’ve always been inspired by the idea of unearthing beauty in the everyday and finding joy in getting dressed,” Spender, founder and creative director of Bianca Spender says. “I was excited by the idea of exploring pieces that can be worn daily, while also highlighting the design detail that goes into Bianca Spender collections. I wanted to start with pieces that were unconventional and take a playful approach.”

The collaboration is made up of 11 pieces by way of non-traditional silhouettes in a colour palette of oxford blue, sky and chalk. Key looks include a two-toned denim trench coat and a mid-length wrap dress which can be styled in multiple ways. The ever popular Curvature Skirt is reinvented in chalk and sky denim, featuring chunky panels and stitching and is accompanied by the feminine Rocha Top.

“You can see so much of the detailing within the designs through the washes, stitching and finishes,” the designer adds. “The nature of denim brings a sculptural feel to my traditionally fluid or liberated silhouettes which has been very exciting to work with.”

All pieces in the Bianca Spender x Nobody Denim collection are designed, produced and finished in Nobody Denim’s Melbourne factory and are created using conscious fabrications including hemp. Accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia, the collection has been produced employing responsible
business practices.

“Nobody Denim cares deeply about the community and the environment and when the opportunity arose to work with an Australian brand that not only shares our passion for Australian manufacturing and protecting our local industry, but our strong family values, I knew it was going to be a great collaboration,” says John Condilis, CEO and Co-Founder of Nobody Denim.

“Nobody Denim and Bianca Spender have very different aesthetics which is what has made this project so wonderful. The sharing of practices and ideas between two passionate brands is the spirit of collaboration and I can’t wait for our respective customers to be able to shop this special collection.”

The collection will be available to purchase through Bianca Spender and Nobody Denim from September 8.
