Welcome to GRAZIA’s guide to beauty: a monthly instalment of everything our beauty editor is testing, trying, and buying right now. From treatments to new products, it’s a melange of all the best in skin, makeup, and wellness vetted by us (so you don’t have to). By some weird time warp, we’ve arrived at April. It’s a funny month. Most of the world is still in isolation, but beauty still is functioning (in some cases) as a form of escapism – something to play with, lust over, or as a tool to look after ourselves. It’s also the onset of Autumn in Australia, where leaves turn and air cools. It’s in these trans-seasonal months that beauty launches are ripe for the picking: skincare dials up, makeup is reinvented and wellness takes a front seat. Here, you’ll find a mixed bag of what’s good, from weightless physical sunscreen to omega-boosted skin oils; glassy lip sheen to at-home microcurrent. Whether you’re shopping or wish-listing or simply browsing, you know what’s below is the best of the best.

Dior Addict Stellar Gloss, $52. SHOP NOW

This new offering from Dior is like Paris Hilton, lip balm and lip gloss had a baby: a 90s-style, shimmery holographic gloss that’s both glassy and hydrating at once. The pictured shade is “Stellar” – an iridescent mauve that looks as goon on the lips as it does in the tube. Expect mirror shine without tackiness or gloop.

Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defence SPF 30, $77. SHOP NOW

Dermalogica is an editor favourite when it comes to SPF (its Dynamic Skin Recovery is one of the best), so this launch is one worth mentioning. It’s a physical SPF that uses zinc oxide to create a barrier between skin and UVA/UVB rays, making it great for anyone who feels chemical sunscreens are irritating. Unlike other zinc-based formulas, it’s lightweight and clear, meaning dark skin tones won’t get a thick, chalky white cast. It feels fresh and works well under makeup, too. Apply as the last step in your skincare routine waiting 15 minutes before applying makeup.

Revlon PhotoReady Prime Plus Brightening + Skin-Tone Evening, $30. SHOP NOW

Primer skeptics will fall hard and fast for the glowy, dewy finish of this Revlon option. It marries skincare benefits in the form of salicylic acid and vitamin c, meaning you’ll get a gentle brightening effect with every use. The texture is milky and cooling – perfect for sheer, fresh makeup.

L’Occitane Immortelle Eye Reset Serum, $89. SHOP NOW

We can’t have France, but we can at least have French skincare, oui? All the way from Provence, L’Occitane has just released Immortelle Eye Reset Serum: a light, oil-serum hybrid that is loaded with caffeine and botanicals to brighten and de-puff the under-eye area. It has a wonderful watery, melt-in texture, so you don’t need to worry about congesting the thin, delicate orbital area. Use it every night for brighter peepers.

Mecca Cosmetica Glow-Getter Exfoliatin Solution, $40. SHOP NOW

Chemical exfoliants will either give you baby skin or leave you red and broken out. This pick from the genius development team at Mecca Cosmetica is thankfully the former. A powerful but not damaging blend of glycolic, salicylic and lactic, expect a smoother, clearer, brighter face with daily use. However if you’re new to chemical exfoliation, start twice per week at night.

The Beauty Chef Omega Elixir, $59. SHOP NOW

Now feels as good a time as never to start prioritising inner health. The Beauty Chef is a market leader in terms of ingestible wellness, and the newest launch is all about plump, hydrated skin. This vegan oil – including evening primrose, chia, linseed and sea buckthorn oil – is full of fatty acids to nourish the skin, eyes and nervous system. Either take it straight, or mix into salad dressings or smoothies.

Foreo BEAR, $395. SHOP NOW

Microcurrent is like a workout for your face. In layman’s terms, it stimulates deep muscles for more lifted, defined contours – think less puffiness, lifted cheek bones, a stronger jaw and higher brows. What’s great about Foreo BEAR specifically is that it comes with a handy app to talk you though best practice so your hard bathroom hours aren’t in vain. Pricey, but skincare buffs will see its merit. Use it daily with the conductor serum.

Fenty Beauty Match Stix Glow Skinstick in Purrrl, $39. SHOP NOW

Fenty Beauty can do no wrong, but this highlighting stick elevates the brand to a whole new level. Dewy and high shine, it’s glassy and slick – no shimmer, just a light-reflective pearl that leaves the skin looking glazed. Use it on cheeks, lids, the cupid’s bow and brows.
