It takes just minutes to make a fashion statement on any awards season red carpet, but hours and in some cases days of prep to get there. Because behind every sensational entrance and string of photos from this year’s Golden Globes, there was an army of beauty staff, along with stylists guiding stars through their buffet options of dress, shoe and jewellery options. Here’s how some of our favourite stars documented it for the world…

Teresa Palmer literally had alterations made to her custom Armani Prive dress while hair and make-up were happening. The Hacksaw Ridge star and mum-of-two admitted to being nervous about walking the Globes carpet for the first time.

Olivia culpo was well-served by her international styling duo of South African Anita Patrickson and Canadian Grace Wrightsell who dressed her in what was easily one of the best looks of this year’s red carpet: an ornate Zuhair Murad couture gown and Lorraine Schwartz bling. (PS. Culpo’s video clip from the car on her way to the soiree below is hilarious.)

Lily Collins
says it all in the caption to this photo she took during the dress selection process: “like a kid in a candy store”. the pic also suggests she was given first dibs on the dress eventually chosen by Olivia Culpo, as it’s easily spotted in the bottom right corner.

KRISTEN BELL clutched a mug of organic matcha the morning of the awards and poked fun at herself sans make-up by captioning this pic with the hashtag #wokeuplikethis. Celebrity stylist Nicole Chavez dressed her in this sequinned Jenny Packham gown and Harry Winston diamonds for the event.

Sarah Jessica Parker ticked us with her sartorial humour captioning this pic: “And in the always fiercely competitive category of which shoes to choose, the nominees are…”. The fact every option is from her own footwear range is further proof this woman’s a master of self-marketing. Snaps.

Anna Kendrick who wore a Vionnet gown had some tough decisions to make about the finer details. For the record, she went with just one ring and the two bracelets on the other wrist.

Jessica Biel wore Ellie Saab and Neil Lane jewellery and was dressed by not one but two celeb stylists working in tandem: Mariel Haenn and Rob Zandgardi, pictured here adding the finishing touches. Why bend down for your own shoes when you have staff for the job?

Liz Hernandez primped in a room at the Beverley Hilton pre-party and wore a simple black Massachi-label gown by LA-based designer Patricia Massachi Yadegar.
